I am an alumni of Texas A&M University and have been in the healthcare field since moving to the Austin area in 2004. I received a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas State University-San Marcos in 2010 and am currently licensed as an LPC-Intern.  My therapy focuses on helping clients develop healthier lifestyles, changing habits/negative behaviors, adopting coping skills and stress management and overcoming grief and loss, depression, anxiety and life transition. My work as Clinical Coordinator and Counselor in a South Austin medical clinic integrates nutrition education and counseling in a whole mind-body approach to healthy lifestyle change. I use a holistic and strengths-based approach to therapy. My fees range from $60-$85.

I enjoy working with families and using a systems approach to counseling when appropriate. My areas of interest are trauma and prevention, and I am Trauma I certified through the Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. I utilize eclectic therapy techniques; however, my area of specialty is cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused interventions. I have over 3 years of experience working in residential treatment with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. My preferred client age is pre-teen and adolescents, 11-17; however, I am open to working with adults as well.

After completing a bachelor’s and master’s degree at Texas A&M University, I received my master’s in Counseling and Development at Texas Woman’s University. For the past four years I have worked with high school and middle school students as a school counselor. I completed my LPC under the supervision of Ashleigh Ross-Lind, and she went above and beyond to help me establish my own private practice. She is now a colleague and a mentor to me. I primarily work with adolescents and young adults using a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Counseling. I also have experience working with victims of domestic violence, and I have a special interest in helping women cope with infertility.

I will begin accepting some insurance plans when I start seeing clients again in the spring of 2013 after being out on maternity leave.

Loren received her master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University in August of 2012. She completed her practicum in the on-campus clinic at Texas State and a 2-semester internship as a Master’s Level Counseling Intern in the Youth and Adult Counseling program at Lifeworks. She is now licensed as an LPC-Intern under the supervision of Erin Pannell, M.Ed, LPC-S, RPT-S.

Loren specializes in working with children and adolescents using play therapy, sandtray therapy, and art techniques and is currently working toward her Registered Play Therapist certification as well as full LPC licensure.

Although Loren works mostly with children, adolescents, and families, she has experience working with adults as well using traditional talk therapy and sandtray therapy. Loren focuses on issues including but not limited to:

behavior difficulties; problems interacting or getting along with others; difficulty managing anger, sadness, frustration, and/or anxiety; and difficulty dealing with a loss/grief, parents’ divorce, siblings, or another significant life change or transition.

In her free time, Loren enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors, especially at the lakes and parks around Austin.
